Well after driving myself crazy for what seems like forever… I took my Network+ Exam today. (I only threw up twice the night before).
Spending $200+ dollars to be driven slowly mad (okay, madder) seems really stupid or masichist(al?). Add on the fact that I am taking a Programming course, a Notary course and I have company coming to my place tomorrow … yeah that is stress I seem to be feeling.
But hey I passed, so I get reimbursed from work (no pass no pay back) and I have warned my guests that if they see any underwear in the living room just don’t make eye contact and they probably won’t get hurt.
Must pass out now

Seriously, I think I may just drive myself crazy studying for this test. I find myself asking a question I haven’t asked since I was a Sophomore in High School studying Geometry. “When am I ever going to need this in real life. Do I really need to know about token rings? How much of this do I really need to know off the top of my head? Our Network Administrator doesn’t have a lot of this memorized and I think he is part computer with all the information he has tucked in his head.
Sigh … Chapter 4 the OSI Model and Network protocols.
Hulu’s Superbowl ad was wrong if aliens want to turn our brains to cottage cheese this will work much better than tv or Hulu!

Bold new levels of Geekness
After this weekend I’m thinking that if I want to be able to function in “normal” society I am going to have to cut any kind of Star Wars input, interactions, exposure. On Sunday the Portland Symphony Orchestra’s Pops performance was “A Tribute to John Williams”. Things went well the music was beautiful the new conductor is both talented and funny. It was truly enjoyable. Until I managed to have an utterly geeky moment. During intermission members of the 501st (People who dress up in Star Wars outfits etc.) were collecting money for the make a wish foundation. I went out to the lobby, knowing full well that these people were going to be about, and had a viseral reaction to dodge behind a pillar the second I saw someone in a stormtrooper’s uniform. I literally froze in place for a moment. I wonder if I wouldn’t have done something stupid if I hadn’t seen a woman dressed in a Jedi outfit standing between me and the nearest stormtrooper… Seriously I almost made a huge ass of myself at a symphony performace because some guy/girl was dressed up as a badguy from my childhood…
But the plus side is that most of the people around were of similar mind set and Robert Moody even particiapeted in a fight jedi v stormtroopers. It isn’t every day you see a symphony conductor put down his baton and pick up a lightsaber. It was truly a great time even though I nearly humiliated myself beyond belief.
On a less geek note (or on a different kind of geek note) John Williams is an amazing composer the Violin solo in the “Schindler’s List” Theme is so beautiful I’ll be putting that on my iPod!

Luke Skywalker I’m not!
Well, I made it through surgery and everything is getting back in order (Well, as close as I get to order). Driving home on 295 from my doctor’s office I made the mistake of listening to the end of the Star Wars dramatization. As big of a geek as I am I got way to into it. Seriously, to the point of when I was being passed by a white/silverish Toyota I almost swerved on the “tie fighter” that was coming up behind me.
In my defense Vader had just killed the Gold leader.
And my apologies to the lady in the blue pontiac who almost went down with Biggs. I’m an idiot.
My next audio “read” for the car… Jane Eyre, seriously.
