The first chapter is excellent. I think the fear is more intense when it is children in danger. Plus the Losers all kind of suck as adults.
Chapter 2 does answer one question though… Is Stephen King bitter about everyone saying his endings suck? Yes, he is. It is a running gag that the writer character (Bill) writes brilliant stories but his endings always suck. Stephen King even makes a cameo in the film telling Bill he can’t write endings. It is funny but telling.
The town Derry is based on the Bangor area (some shots in the movie looked so much like Bangor! It was cool to see an area I’m familiar with on film. I’ll never look at the Paul Bunyon statue the same!
